Pricing Questions

Pricing is a common question. We'll try to explain a little bit about David Bailey's pricing philosophy.

Pricing is a common question for any photographer. There is no way to quote a rate without first knowing the clients' needs and desires and the use of images.

Pricing is based on the time and expense of getting the images required by the client. In general any good quality professional photographer will start at approximately $1000 per day for simply shooting images; this does not include travel, assistants, extra equipment, location expenses, etc.

The right to use images from a shoot can vary greatly as well; they can be licensed for a 1 time use where the photographer retains all rights to the image to an agreement where the photographer sells all rights to the images (this option is much more costly but is sometimes preferrable for larger clients) or anyting in between.

All usage agreements and rights will be in writing and signed by all parties prior to the photo shoot.

If you are looking for a way to price your images or want to know what the general costs of image usage is, you can visit the Editorial Photographers site for an estimate. It can be found here: Editorial Photo.
